Brock: (reaching his pokeball and throw it and geodude appeared)
Geodude: (his arms pumped) Geo!
me: whoa..(reaching my pokdex)
Pokedex: (beeping) Geodude is rock type...
me: alright.. (throwing my pokeball) go, Spearow!
Spearow: (flying around) Spea!
me: Spearow, Peck now!
Spearow: (flys toward Geodude)

Brock: Geodude, dodge it then use dizzy punch!
Geodude: (dodged then punching Spearow) Geo!
me: Spearow!
Spearow: (got balance then fly up) Spa!

Spearow: (went faster with peck and hit Geodude)
Geodude: (faints) Geo...

me: whoa! that's huge pokemon! (reaching pokedex again)
Pokedex: (beeping) Onix is rock type and use dig often...
me: awesome...Pikachu, quick attack!
Pikachu: (running faster) Pi! Pi!

Onix: (dodge it then grab Pikachu with its tail0
me: Pikachu!
Pikachu: (strugging) Pika....
me: Pikachu, use Iron Tail now!
Pikachu: (open his eyes as use Iron Tail to set free) Pika!
me: good job, Pikachu!
Pikachu: Pika...
me: now, please work.. Volt tackle!
Pikachu: (running as thunder on its body) pi pi!
brock: it's not working against my rock pokemon..
me: lok again.. Pikachu, cancel Volt tackle but keep that speed with iron Tail on his head now!
Pikachu: (running on same speed and leaping toward Onix's head and strike its head with iron Tail) Pika!
Brock: No! (as Onix fainted0 good job, Onix...(got Onix back in his pokeball)
me: you did it, Pikachu!
Pikachu: (running toward me and leaping into my arms) Pika!

A man just outside the gym had a small stand selling some pokemon merchandise. There was a large stack of badge cases and several blue waterproof hard-plastic backpacks. Buying a backpack and a badge case for a total of $550, Carlotta grumbled about the high prices. $150 just for a badge case and $400 for a backpack? Geez...but she didn't say anything more as she entered the gym. Someone had just finished a battle. Now it was Carlotta's turn.
"Oh, another trainer? Give me just one second."
Brock healed his pokemon and then turned to Carlotta.
"All right, your turn. Geodude, go!"
Carlotta nodded and released Wartortle. Geodude tried a simple Tackle at first, but the attack was easily dodged and a critical hit was scored with Water Gun that left Geodude with almost no HP. Another Water Gun attack finished it quickly.
"I hope you have more than that, Brock, because that was pathetic."
"You'd better believe I have more."
He switched Geodude for Onix.
"Onix, Rock Throw!"
The attack hit hard, but then a Water Gun made the Onix roar with pain and anger. A second Water Gun put it severely off-balance, and a third knocked it out. Then Wartortle grew to level 20!
"Good fight, trainer. Come claim your badge and a TM that I have for you. I want to reward you for using your brain instead of just attacking with any old pokemon."
Any old pokemon? What, like Rattatas and Pidgeys couldn't beat rock-types? As if...but she was willing to accept it.
"This is TM44: Rest. It'll let your pokemon recover their health and energy while they're sleeping and will put them to sleep in battle in order to recover a portion of their total health and energy. And here's your Boulder Badge; it'll increase your pokemon's attack power. Congratulations, trainer."
"The name's Carlotta, and thanks."
"You're welcome, Carlotta."
She put the badge and TM away and congratulated her pokemon before heading out to go to the Pokemon Center nearby and heal her Wartortle...
